Hydrofluoric Acid Awareness Course

This bespoke training is designed to provide all course members with an awareness of the hazards involved, depending on their type of work, and how they would come into contact with the dangerous substance. Specific United Nation numbers are allocated to all dangerous goods even as a waste product.

The Health & Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981, require all personnel involved in work activities with special hazards, such as Hydrofluoric acid must have a clear understanding of the dangers, how they would come into contact with HF and the specific first aid treatment required.

An explanation and demonstration of the specific first aid treatment is provided.

COURSE CONTENT:

  • HASWA and Associated First Aid Regulations.
  • Classification & Identification of Hydrofluoric Acid.
  • GHS, Dangerous goods awareness and, Degree of danger.
  • Class 8, Corrosive substances and Hydrofluoric Acid.
  • Different types of burns (general and HF specific).
  • Safety precautions to be taken when treating HF burns.
  • Specific treatment for Ingestion / Inhalation / Skin contact / Eye Contamination.
  • Updates from Chemical Industry Association, HSE and National Poisons Information Services.
  • Safe working practices.
  • MCQ Paper
